Smooth Chill

Smooth Chill is a British national digital radio station broadcasting from London via DAB+ on multiplexes 11D and 12A, and online. Owned by Global and launched in February 2005, the commercial station rebranded under the Smooth network in 2019 and went national in 2020, focusing on ambient, chill-out, and electronic music.

Programming relies entirely on automated music blocks like Smooth Chill Mornings and Smooth Chill Afternoons, avoiding talk shows and presenters entirely. Smooth Chill Afternoons is widely appreciated as an ideal midday escape, offering a calm listening experience when afternoon weariness sets in. The station plays down-tempo tracks from artists like Morcheeba, Massive Attack, and Kinobe, including songs such as Kinobe's Slip Into Something More Comfortable and Alex Forster's Cicala.

RAJAR(Q2 2026) shows 365,000 weekly listeners. People tune in for stress relief and distraction-free concentration at work. Smooth Chill gives you steady music without DJ chatter, making it useful for focus compared to talk-heavy stations.
